Marren Architects designed a new facade for this home based on the millwork adorning the finest examples of Federal-style town home facades in the Federal Hill neighborhood of Baltimore. Charlie Wrocinski, a local master craftsman in Fells Point neighborhood of Baltimore fabricated the custom millwork. Charlie fabricated from yellow poplar all of the scrollwork, ventwork, and brackets that make up the cornice and lower balcony of this handsome home as well as the custom front door and frame.
The house features working gas lamps, a brick planter and stoop, as well as iron railings the owners found in an architectural salvage yard. The railings are of the same style and vintage that adorn Holy Cross church in Federal Hill.
The owners tested several paint combinations until they found the perfect shade of dark olive for the masonry background and a high-gloss cream for the poplar millwork and trim.
Installation by Baltimorebuilt.
